The Japanese Cultural Days 2026
-Special guest: Master Instructor Sozan Nakamura-
-6th-8th of May at the Romanian-American University-
We were honored to have with us, as a special guest of the Bucharest Sogetsu Peony Study Group, Sozan Nakamura Sensei, Master Instructor at the Sogetsu HQ , during the 2026 edition of the Japanese Cultural Days, organized by the Romanian-Japanese Studies Center ‘Angela Hondru’ within the Romanian-American University.
On the 6th of May, at the Senate Hall, an ikebana workshop took place under the guidance of Professor Nakamura. The workshop explored the following themes: arrangements composed exclusively of leaves, and freestyle arrangements.
The works created by Sozan Nakamura Sensei, as well as those made by the workshop participants, were brought together in an exhibition displayed in the foyer of the Romanian-American University. It was a truly a magical experience, in the spirit of Sogetsu School.
On the 7th of May, at the Aula Magna Hall, we were honored to have on stage Sozan Nakamura Sensei, who presented a remarkable ikebana demonstration, an amazing experience that emphasized the unique style of the Sogetsu School with Sensei’s recognizable special signature, for the Anniversary Gala Haru Urara Grand Festa 2026.
One of the ikebana arrangements was presented in a vase made after a design by the former head of the Sogetsu School, Hiroshi Teshigahara.
Also, for another ikebana arrangement, Sozan Nakamura Sensei invited Ms. Katae (a practitioner of the Sogetsu style) on the stage to add the final element.
Rendez-vous au Jardin
-6th-8th of June at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tokyo-
Between June 6–8, 2025, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tokyo organized an international artistic event entitled “Rendez-vous au Jardin” at the Embassy of Romania in Japan. Romanian and Japanese artists alike shared traditional art forms specific to their respective countries through creative workshops. It was a few wonderful days filled with art and friendship.
Beyond the Borders of the Floating World
-13th of June 2024 at the National Art Museum of Romania-
On Thursday, June 13 2024, in the foyer of the Auditorium Hall of the National Museum of Art of Romania, the exhibition “Beyond the Borders of the Floating World” featured ikebana arrangements created by Andreea Georgescu, a Sanyo II–grade teacher within the Sogetsu School of Ikebana.
Alongside the ikebana works, the exhibition brought together photographs by Keiichiro Matsuo, large-scale paper works by Alexandra Baranyi, kimono-inspired fashion creations by Laura Caraman, and paintings by the artist Daniel Cherecheș, all united under the theme of the mysterious world of geishas.
